Tesla Effect släpptes i maj 2014 och var seriens första del på sexton år (!). Därefter har det varit ganska tyst. Pennan bakom FMV-serien, Aaron Conners, har arbetat med nya böcker och ett ambitiöst team har fortsatt med sin sanktionerade Overseer-remake, The Poisoned Pawn.
Nu har dock bomben slagit ner: The Poisoned Pawn är inte längre "bara" en Overseer-remake utan den sjunde delen i äventyrsserien om detektiven Tex Murphy.
Some of you may be aware that the scope of the Poisoned Pawn has expanded beyond just “an Overseer remake”. What you may not be aware of are two very important changes: The Poisoned Pawn is the official sequel / successor to Tesla Effect. The Poisoned Pawn is Act 1 of the final chapter in the Tex Murphy Adventure series.
Värt att påpeka är jag är ett vansinnigt stort fan av Tex Murphy och hade jag inte suttit ner när jag fått nyheten vet jag inte vad som hade hänt. I februari 2018 ska The Poisoned Pawn släppas.
Spelet äger rum under 2050, efter händelserna i Tesla Effect, men vi kommer att få följa med Tex när han återbesöker ikoniska ögonblick från sina gamla äventyr, främst Overseer. Detta ska förbereda honom inför den stora finalen:
Nothing in the Tex Murphy universe (since the events of Mean Streets) has been an accident. The game has been played, the pieces have been set, and now it is time to look back and pay closer attention to the man behind the curtain, before making the final move.
För att finalen ska bli verklighet krävs det dock blod, svett och dollar. The Posioned Pawn och hur framgångsrikt det spelet blir avgör framtiden för Tex Murphy.
It has always been a goal of both ours and the original Tex Murphy team to see the series finished. But as we are all fully aware: Tex Murphy deserves to go out with a BIG bang (ideally, in space). But in order to make a game that is capable of doing justice to the Tex Murphy universe, it would need to be be big, costly and involved.
